June 18, 2021 - Done- balsamic notes- obviously well past it’s prime
September 5, 2015 - Excellent, Prototypical. popped and poured with spaghetti and meatballs. Dried flowers, sour cherry, rose petals. Nice balance in a good place right now.
January 1, 2013 - in a pretty good place right now, and held up just fine over three days on the kitchen counter. Fine leathery tannin is starting to come to the front of the palate, but there is still plenty of fruit. I'll hold the last two two more years at minimum but drinking just fine right now too.
November 7, 2012 - earthy, tobacco, smoky. medium weight darkish fruit. significant tannins, modest finish. paired well with braised brisket
August 25, 2012 - Nat cork. Very old world in style. Dirty, earthier, less fruit. Got more and more interesting with more time open and kept intriguing me, bringing back for another taste. Def food wine, def for fans of the style.
April 12, 2011 - I love this but love Nebbiolo generally. It's in a dumb phase and took and hour of air to taste like more than vaguely wine-flavored water. After that it is spot on feminine Barbaresco -- great food wine.
To be honest, I'm usually sure about whether a wine should be held longer or not, but this one I'm not sure. It could fade, or develop a tertiary nose. Hard to say but the length of time it took to come back to life (this was not just giving a little air but literally waiting for it to return from the void) give me pause. Will have to check back in 18 months ...
January 25, 2011 - Decanted for 90 minutes. Beauty of a nose with cherries, a hint of sweetness like cobbler, floral, and a bit of earth. Elegant weight and the palate was lively with fruit and acidity and the tannins really grip. Paired beautifully with Pasta Amatriciana.
April 24, 2010 - Some plum and smoke on the nose. A nice dry finish, not tannic. Good dark fruit flavors with a little tart ending. Pretty good but it doesn't compare to my favorite Cigliuti Barbaresco Vigna Erte 2004.
