July 8, 2015 - it was fine, but not good qpr. this was before the booker guy completely lost his head, too much coke 'd be my guess. the oak is still dominating (no surprise) but bits of fruit trying to shine through.

just pay a little more for saxum and 8-10 more points.

July 5, 2015 - Purple garnet and heavy in the glass. Nose of oak, boysenberry, blueberry, spice, pepper, licorice and candy cane. Full body and an out-of-control beast on the palate. Dominate oak, candied black fruit and cloying spice. Long, ponderous finish. This is a revisit, revealing that time and oxygen were of no benefit. Too bad…such great fruit.

August 8, 2014 - Syrah brandy anyone? Alcohol, wood, fruit and more wood. Very disappointing that I kept this too long. At release it was a hedonistic monster, now it is middle age flab. Oh well.

February 4, 2012 - Inky purple with med-heavy viscosity in the glass. Decanted for two hours. Glowing nose of plum, spice, black berries, stewed strawberry, coffee and chocolate. Secondary slate and licorice. Full body with concentrated and persistent black fruit, spice and coffee on the palate. Secondary plum, and chocolate. Good oak integration, chalky minerals, firm backbone and sublime mouthfeel. Long, long finish. I initially had reservations because Eric's recent releases have been way too over-oaked (splintery) and angular. Pleasant surprise.

July 17, 2011 - The bottle of the evening. Purple in color. Usually, I find the flavors most important, but the key to this wine was its seamless integration and tannins finer than a 5000 grit waterstone. Just incredible. Oh yea, and it was a fruit bomb too. The fact that all the fruit could be contained on its frame...it's winemaking skill I haven't appreciated since Sparky Marquis.

June 26, 2011 - Dark purple, Boysenberry, Blueberry, and Plum flavors with very good tannins and structure. Good balance but still young and will benefit nicely from cellaring a few more years before opening another bottle. Can't wait to open another bottle.

March 12, 2011 - Decanted and immediately poured. Initially, totally disjointed and over oaked. An hour later, integration. Like drinking a plum tart. Opaque purple, full bodied, medium finish. Should last for a number of years.
