April 9, 2024 - Almost 2 years since my last try and overall bottle no 12 in fairly regular intervals since arrivage. Pnp and shows beautifully from pulling the cork. Still a dark garnet in the glass with a very thin translucent rim. Deep dark fruit, good freshness, the oak is refined but still a bit too prominent for my preference, some animal notes. Good medium + weight and concentration on the palate, very typical Pauillac, medium tannins providing good support. Short to medium finish. Excellent showing of this 09, would give it another 1-2 years to integrate further.

March 30, 2024 - I did not read tasting notes in advance on purpose, but I should have - this definitely needed more time to open than I expected (but should have known better). We decanted, but it continued to improve over a couple of hours, served with beef bourguignon. Garnet color starting to show age, graphite, herbaceous notes, cassis, very mild acidity, fading fruit, and medium-short finish. It was very good, but I don't think it will get better.

March 29, 2024 - Two bottles with Good Friday lamb - a lovely combination. Typically dark Pauillac and on the nose classic left bank graphite, cedar and a hint of cassis. On the palate drank well with the lamb but perhaps slightly light and short on the finish. I feel this is on its plateau and may have many years yet but will it improve? Certainly it needs food. Decanted for 30 minutes, a little sediment but nothing serious. For me it was open fairly quickly yet held up in the glass for several hours. Overall very enjoyable and once again proof of the strength of the vintage and the Chateau.
