January 20, 2020 - My last of these. This has definitely improved over time and is now more fully evolved, showcasing lovely texture and sweet tannins. Feels light to medium-bodied, effortless and elegant. Doesn't need food accompaniment really as it's so elegant by itself.

December 20, 2019 - Very nice, classic, excellent medium weight, dark forest, leather, cassis, smoke, well-balanced, not heavy or over ripe, starting to really drink well 10 years on. At Il Nido, Seattle w/E,K, B, J.

December 19, 2019 - Drank over several weeks with Coravin. Ample, tobacco, dark cherries, acidic, Oak. Still too young and not well integrated. Some might already enjoy it like this, but I will personally taste my next one in 4-5 years only.

December 19, 2019 - Definitely needs an hour of decanting, but then an elegant, interesting wine in the nose (minerality). Medium bodied on the palate, no heavy weight. Has the structure to age for decades, no need to rush, but can be enjoyed now with serious decanting.

October 19, 2019 - This needed few hours of decanting back in 2016 when I tried it last time, and it still needs that. Much more evolution since 2016, but I'm not sure it's yet at its peak. Lots of energy, some well-integrated but still pronounced tannins, good earthiness, and a nice minerality streak. Requires patience while tasting and going forward. This can easily rest through 2030 and beyond, frankly.

(Chateau Giscours Margaux) From this chateau that seems to have performed well in recent years, in 2009 we have Cabernet Sauvignon 55%, Merlot 40% and Cabernet Franc 5%. A rather glossy wine with a black-crimson hue and the aromas of pencil lead on the nose, with very smart and sweet fruit too. Textured, smoothly polished, creamy with ripe tannin and fresh, direct acidity. A very appealing wine with good back bone and delicious potential. Perhaps not very 'Margaux', but certainly quite 'Giscours'.

(Château Giscours) Barrel sample tasted in London on July 5, 2010. Less Cabernet than in 2008 (55%, with 40% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc). Although the wine is reductive and primary at the moment, the structure is still apparent: this is a big wine, and a considerable step up from the 2008 in terms of concentration. Perhaps it reflects the new era at Giscours more than the terroir. Drink from 2020 to 2035 and beyond. Winery Spotlight: Château Giscours
