November 18, 2021 - Final bottle of an EP case. Overall value from the case was off the charts and this was a fine final bottle. Good plum color with apparent bricking, though not excessively for the age. Opens quickly with a predominant aromatic mixture dominated by plum with supporting notes of clove, briar, ganache, cassis, and a whiff of an old sweater locked away for a year. On the palate this provides a modest lift of acidity on the attack before stepping aside to let the plum, cassis, and cedar glide through the mid palate. The finish leaves a shallow but lengthy thread of chalky iron as it coasts along. Resolved tannins allow the bone structure of the fruit to shine through. Solid, and looking forward to my 2016 and 2019.

Day 2 - Half the bottle stored overnight. Presenting more vigor today from the acidity with the cassis showing dominance, backed up with smoke and an espresso centric finish. A very different wine from day 1. Day 2 - 90.

November 15, 2021 - Un bon bordeaux qui a bien tenu les années. Un nez agréable et un vin très équilibré, des tanins fondus mais encore de la matière, une longueur correcte. C'est bien, bon rapport Q/P.

    September 24, 2021 - PnD let air for 3hrs.

    Clear deep ruby.

Clean. Medium(+) intensity with aromas of cassis blackberry pate des fruits thyme tar tobacco and vanilla.

Dry. Medium(+) tannins. Medium(+) acidity. Medium alcohol. Medium body. Medium(+) intensity with flavours of cassis blackberry blood thyme jasmine tea and coconut.

Medium(+) finish with lingering cassis black tea and herbal notes. Very good drink now suitable for further ageing. Fresh with nice tertiary elements and balance. Great window over the next five years. Nice reminder of why you need to be patient with BDX.

September 23, 2021 - Fine silky tannins. Creamy cherrie notes. Black fruit. Not very complex but drinking well.

    Better on day 2.

September 20, 2021 - I have wrote enough notes about this wine and partially abused my cellar tracker space on this board. I am not writing to tell you about another bottle of this wine. I am writing to give you a comparison of this wine, opened alongside its younger sister, the 2015. Its clear that the 2009 is a boy and the 2015 is a girl. As to where the 2009 is dense, big, the 2015 is soft, elegant, and pretty in so many ways that in several breaths it made the beautiful 2009 seem over extracted, and over ripe. Needless to say, the 2009 is probably my favorite vintage of this wine so far, but drinking it next to the elegant and truffle scented 2015, it made me second guess my preference. Ultimately, the 2009 won, but the next day, the remaining wine in the bottle lost to the lively 2015. In conclusion, drink your 2009's now and over the next 3 to 5 years, and do the same with your 2015's! PT_
