December 30, 2021 - In a beautiful place right now. Great acidity and vibrancy. Cranberry and red cherry with licorice and some herbaceousness. Full bodied with a dense medium length finish. Slightly drying tannins

April 9, 2021 - During a blind tasting dinner. An easy guess here, Northern Rhone Syrah, cloudy color, animalic nose with a musky and sour palate, good but not in the top league what Chapoutier can do today.

March 20, 2020 - Ditto the note from KENK below, dry, coarse, barely any perceptible fruit. Over the hill or improper storage somewhere along the way? It should have held this long but alas no joy in this wine.

January 20, 2018 - Lean dry coarse with only a slight faded sense of fruit. Drinkable, but nothing special.

September 18, 2017 - The 1996 Chapoutier Le Meal is a wonderful 21 year that is hitting it's stride... it's a full body wine with a long finish. After years of drinking Australian Shiraz,
I'm moving to the French Syrah... lol..
