April 9, 2012 - despite being somewhat past its prime i thought the chianti drank very nicely
February 28, 2009 - Lots of cherry and traditional sangiovese flavors including tobacco and cinamon. Lots of tannin still present but the palate was a little thin and underwhelming. I don't see this improving, and IMO the tannins are a little intusive.
March 10, 2007 - Dark ruby color and Amarone-like nose of dried berries, tobacco, and rustic, subtle wood. On the palate, the wine coats the tongue well. Flavors of air-dried berries, tobacco, and some plum dominate. Mid-palate is slightly hollow, but the wine finishes strong. This is not life-changing stuff, but for $16 (from Wine Library), this is a fantastic weeknight or Pizza wine. Would buy again.
October 8, 2006 - Better than the last bottle. Still tannic but enough fruit and spice for balance
August 31, 2006 - Nice nose of spice and dark red fruit. On the palate too much tannin and acid. Not sure where this is going.
April 8, 2006 - Medium ruby, with a unctuous and spicy forward nose. Currants, smoky fruits, and lots of rich flavors - including coffee, mocha and ripe berry fruits.
January 23, 2006 - Light nose of cherries, preserves and cassis; pleasant in the mouth with a strong tannic finish.
November 13, 2005 - Pleasant homogenized Montepulciano, slightly herbaceous, difficulty discernning among flavors. Food selection is key here.
