November 25, 2021 - Slightly maderized, similar to a bottle we consumed last spring from the same vintage. Both bottles were from the same lot from auction. Disappointing to say the least. I would have liked for the first bottle to have been a one-off. It seems as though 20 years is too old for a California Chardonnay, even when crafted by a master winemaker.

December 7, 2018 - Decanted for a good 30 minutes and enjoyed over 3 hours and we observed three stages in this wine, the first been blind tasted.
On open and just decanted the wine had 2 distinct personalities. The knows was of top end grand Cru burgundy, Montrachet level, DRC level. Elegant, mineral, not flamboyant , no overdone oak, soft honey touches, soft caramel. The palate had a bit of bitterness, to start and threw us of course as to the cepage. Andreas guessed new world 10y+ Rhone blend, Nicol new world Chardonnay 15yrs ( she's the boss)
Stage 2 , helped with the knowledge of what the wine was, about an hour in was clearly a Chardonnay but still with restraint for a new world and kept that Montrachet nose.
Stage 3 after a good three hours was buttery, rich, the American Chardonnay textbook style, big almost totally different than the wine we begun.
A 3 hour journey in one bottle. We preffered stage 1. Solid 96-97

February 18, 2016 - Long Long Lunch: Wood and alc. Like drinking a cocktail. Others thought this was a Rhone white! Not really my style. I can't help but think how completely silly the price is.

November 8, 2013 - Beth's BDAY (Our house): Decanted, light honey color, good nose, long finish, served a bit too warm

February 27, 2010 - Really nice - in a great place with honey, mint, and orange peel notes. Characteristically intense, with a firm, tense body that supports things well. Very good - holding well.
