August 30, 2023 - Some volatiles on the nose, color bricking. Still very tannic. I’d say this is past its prime but still enjoyable. Drink up!

May 16, 2020 - Zoom blind tasting #4: Bordeaux (At home during circuit breaker): A lovely little wine; crafted in a slightly more modern style, but still clearly from Bordeaux. The nose had a nice lift of dark cherries and plums, some sweet spice, a twist of herb, and then just a touch of dark chocolate and sandy mineral. Very right-bank in its character. It had a lovely feel on the palate too - very fresh, with juicy acidity and lovely velvety tannins wrapped around a lively core of dark cherry and blackberry fruit, this time seasoned with a lovely flush of spice and just a little twist of mineral at the finish. Still youthful, even a bit primary, but this was really enjoyable. A really elegant wine, and with such great energy to it. While delicious today though, I would leave happily leave it aside for a few more years for it to fan out and develop a touch more complexity.

March 28, 2018 - Dim Sum Club at Imperial Treasure Teochew (Imperial Treasure Teochew, Takashimaya): Enjoyable. Quite remarkably so for a Chateau only making its second vintage actually. It was a bit bigger and burlier than I would normally prefer - this was a world away from the light, sleek 1997 Pavie Decesse that we had alongside, but good wine nonetheless. I liked the nose here. Plums, ripe berries and a nice bit of savoury earthiness and spice. Nice. The palate was just about coming around into drinkability too, with slightly powdery tannins having softened into a velvety robe, and good, full flavours of red cherries and berries and plums, all nice and juicy on the midpalate and into a nicely plump finish. A little drift of spice on the backpalate rounded it off nicely. Enjoyable, especially with a bit of beef - I think it should benefit with a bit more time in the bottle though. Try again in 2022 onwards.

November 15, 2016 - Fully mature, with a round personality and the essence of smoke, thyme, black cherry, plum and coffee bean. Soft, smooth, and with a ripe, sweet, round, fruity finish, this is ready to go.

April 7, 2015 - Decanted a good 8 hrs. and consumed over two days. This was a tasty little surprise for a couple of reasons: first, it was a very well made wine that has coasted into its 15th birthday with ease, Second, I think for the first time in a long while, I finally drank a true St. Emilion that actually tastes like a Bordeaux instead of a high polished, New World clone. Just for reference, i have had precious few right bank wines over $50, so the sample size is small to be sure, and what i have had, nothing has really grabbed my attention. The wine was darker that its typical left bank cousin, it still had that lightness and freshness on the palate, firms up a little in the middle, and a slow winding, leisurely finish. It also had a more smoky element than I am used to from Paulliac or St. Estephe, thecfruit profile was more plum vs. cassis or dark cherry. A life changer, no, but this was well made and a real treat to drink.

March 1, 2015 - Really nice nose of dark fruits, oak and hints of spice. Tannins pretty well integrated with just a bite of tannins on the medium finish. This to me is drinking exceptionally well right now and I see for no rush to drink. Very enjoyable.

March 26, 2014 - Appearance: A bit hazy, it is of deep intensity ruby color, with garnet rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium intensity aromas showing black fruit of black cherry, plum and blackberry, dried fruit of prune, sweet spice of cinnamon, herbal notes of black tea, maturity notes of tobacco. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium acidity, medium (+) tannin still with a fair bit of grippy texture, the wine has medium alcohol, with medium body and medium intensity flavors of black fruit such as plum and black cherry, dried fruit of prune, herbal notes of black tea. The wine has a medium finish.
Conclusion: Acceptable quality St-Emilion with a rather weak nose, with a bit of tiredness despite the good vintage, the fruit has receded to more the dried prune style, with limited concentration and complexity. On the palate it is also not particularly interesting, with a tannin still grippy despite the number of bottle aged years, and not much intensity and complexity too. A reasonable finish, the wine is a bit too old.

August 6, 2013 - The 2000 Château La Fleur Morange is deep purple in colour with a nose of jammy black currants, licorice and sweet prunes. On the palate, a nice acidity lifting the flavours of jammy black currants, slight mint and sweet prunes yet a very noticeable sweetness. Tannins are velvety and calm on the mid palate before showing its place again in the end palate. The finish isn't too prolonged, but definitely an enjoyable one.
