October 19, 2022 - Served blind. Color looked moderately old, so I guessed late 2000s. The feral edge on this wine with just a decent amount of fruit led me to Cote Rotie. Producer wise, I kept thinking it was Levet. It was just so similar.

Bottle is revealed as 1991 Champet. Friend who opened it agrees that it's pretty Levet-esque and applauded the Cote Rotie call (he's being too kind). Awesome bottle and experience. Wines with this type of profile will put some extra hair on your chest!

November 17, 2017 - Rare Cote-Rotie Dinner ('91, '88, '83) (Blue Hill (NYC)): Red cherry and subtle smoke on the nose. Trace scorched earth, still mostly pure and clean fruit. Palate has both vibrancy and development with nice earth influence.

September 14, 2016 - Rare Northern Rhone Birthday - 1991: Hickory and honey on the nose on top of overripe red cherry fruit. Red cedar and soil on the palate. Thinning, souring, a little tart with a fair bit of brett.

June 6, 2013 - Rare Wine dinner, Woodside, Ca. Rich red color. Pretty nose of rosé pedals, cherries; very Chambolle-like. Fresh, fruit-driven and amazing balance - the red cherry fruit is primary with a long finish with a light acid and little tannins.
