January 26, 2024 - After all of these years in the cellar at 55 degrees the wine still holds its own. While it is supposed to be at the end of its drinking window, it has good fruit and is elegant in its finish and could likely last a few more years in the bottle! The wine looks ruby colored. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis) and prune. It tastes like blackberry. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

February 29, 2020 - Such an easy drinking, delicious wine. Opaque at the core with a thin rim of cranberry. The nose if rich with cinnamon, eucalyptus, plum, blackberry, cassis, coffee, and brined black olives. It’s all that on the palate of course, but the story is the richness, the fullness, and the completeness of this wine. At least twice I asked myself, “Why are we not buying this each and every year for the cellar?” I dunno. Not enough space, I guess. A powerful wine that still has light years ahead of it. No fall off of the fruit on this at all. Smooth, rich and balanced. 14.9% alc. Huge amounts of thick, chunky sediment. With beef and pork sausage chili, and a surprisingly good pairing. Highly Recommended.

July 16, 2017 - Dark red, some bricking. Nose of dark berries and pepper. Nice balance throughout. Mid is mature ripe fruit, leading to a 20+ second finish. Very soft tannins and very ready to drink now. Cellared correctly since release.

March 25, 2017 - A bottle I had about 19 months ago struck me as a little too earthy and heavy. The additional time has served it well. Although the earthy component is still present, it was overshadowed by by tasty, mostly red fruits. Medium bodied, with a solid finish. Beautifully balanced at this stage. Good with food or without. Probably should be consumed within the next year.
