December 8, 2022 - About 45mins of air. On the nose lots of strawberry, dried cherry, cranberry, french oak. The palate was medium + bodied with well balanced acid and a touch of tannin. Good complexity of red and dark fruits on the palate, but not particularly earthy. Very enjoyable especially considering I bought this for $45. Definitely no reason to wait here as this is at its peak; drink within the next few years. Also of note when this was opened the acid was very high and definitely required some air to come into balance.

December 7, 2022 - Tasted blind. Decanted 45min and then maybe 30min in bottle. Glasvin Prestige glass. I guessed 2015 Beaune blind.

Nose showed beautiful tart red fruits. Was initially hard for me to distinguish between cherry, raspberry, strawberry, etc., but over time it clearly is candied strawberry. Palate has plenty of acid that keeps things focused and forward. True strawberry, maybe like the white edge of the strawberry, maybe some raspberries too. There is also some great tension/minerality here. Finish shows off some significant tannins with a tinge from acid.

This is drinking fantastic now and is probably at peak. With time in the glass the structure fully resolves (after about 60-90min) so I think it is in a great place to drink.

91-92, 92 when structure was present, 91 now. Delicious and incredible value at $45 for 2005 Burg 1er Cru!

February 19, 2016 - Translucent ruby color with an unquestionably burgundian nose of dark cherry, earth and a bit of funk. Medium weight with a lean, silky texture and a big dose of acidic grip. Flavors were more thin and washed out than I expected, and there is a bit of orange-rind bitterness on the medium finish. Enjoyable, but I expected more depth and richness for a 1er cru in this vintage.

November 13, 2015 - From 750: Muted nose, but singing on the palate. Very well balanced with fully integrated oak. My favorite and my wine group's favorite in a recent tasting of 2005 Beaune reds boasting such competition as Drouhin Clos des Mouches, Prince Florent de Merode Corton Bressandes, and Poussse d' Or Volnay Clos des 60 Ouvrees. Very ready to drink. Excellent value.

September 24, 2015 - Best bottle so far. Really lovely dark fruits ... rich and ripe with a medium +, velvety texture and smooth edges. Not nearly as lean as a typical Beaune burgundy, Terrific balance, totally seamless, nice grip and good complexity. Tasted blind, I would have guessed it for an Oregon pinot ... and in fact, I drank it alongside a 2008 Panther Creek Shea and they were very similar in style, richness and texture.
