July 16, 2019 - This has started to settle down since my lasting tasting a couple years ago. Less exuberant with the ripe fruit receding and more of the structure and complexity showing. Beautiful aromas of black currants, forest floor, pencil shavings, violets, and dark chocolate. The balance is excellent with pure fruit, supple tannins, and crisp acidity. The bouquet is quite special and the fruit is much more palatable for me than when this wine was younger. An exceptional value from an era when Napa was still rational.

December 15, 2018 - Wow, definitely was a little surprised reading the most recent notes for this bottle, as was not expecting this to outperform, maybe it came out of a dumb-phase??

This bottle had everything going on and for a $30 bottle, was blown away that it had plenty of fruit and spice left. Did notice a little of that 'aged' aroma on initial opening, but that blew off after the first hour.

I definitely don't think this is getting any better, but based on this bottle, don't see any hurry to drink, think maybe another 5 years left... glad I have one more to enjoy!!

December 1, 2017 - Certainly rich and ripe with sweet dark flavors such as blackberry, currant, plums, herbs, and cedar. This still has ample structure but it is definitely made in a more exhuberant over the top style. I am surprised at how youthful these 2002 Napa Cabs are showing. Although no longer in my wheelhouse I can appreciate the quality here.

September 16, 2016 - Second time trying the 2002. Seems a lot older than last time. Garnet red with moderate intensity. Interesting start on the nose with mint mixed in with some darker berries. Perfumey and some woody notes. Moderate tannins (6/10) with some minerality, red berries and some woody notes. Medium bodied and long finish. Drink now.

September 16, 2016 - The 2003 was significantly better than this; the 2002.

Initial light acidity and tomato in the attack. Tannins 6.5/10.

also nicely drinkable, but does not measure up to the 2003.

    Similar light nose
