December 9, 2018 - Had this beauty with beef stew. Glad we saved it. Now drinks like between a ruby port and late harvest Syrah with purported 15.8% alcohol and totally tamed, soft tannins. Now pure black cherry and currant. Incredible fruit for 11 year old vintage.

April 26, 2015 - with duck from grill with R&J. Had it next to the 06 and these were part of the 06-11 vertical the winery sold. Couldn't try them all of course with just 3 people. Anyway; this was much better than the 06. Color was similar but nose was much more interesting and fruit came thru. On the palate this was good fruit and spice. went well with the dinner. Fun to try, 6 bottles for 150.

March 21, 2014 - Fabulous, full, rich and soft…worth saving!

July 7, 2013 - Clear, deep ruby-purple, with no signs of ageing. Very viscous, with thick, glass-staining legs. Nose is clean, medium (+) to pronounced in intensity, with aromas of blueberries, black plums, vanilla, sweet spices, chocolate, tobacco and alcohol. The nose is developing (+), with Christmas fruit-cake-like characteristics. The palate is dry, but with lots of sweet fruit, and flavors consistent with the nose. The acidity is medium (+), the tannins are medium, the alcohol is medium (+) to pronounced at 15.8%. The mouth-feel is velvety and smooth. The minerality is medium. This is a full bodied and hedonistic wine, with medium (+) to pronounced flavor intensity and a long (-) finish. Overall, the wine is surprisingly balanced considering all the fruit and alcohol, but is nevertheless skewed towards the soft end of the spectrum. It is drinking well now and likely to continue in a good drinking window for several more years. A good value in the $25 -$30.00 range, this wine will definitely appeal to lovers of rich, extracted Zinfandels and similar New World fruit bombs. It pairs well with BBQ, sharp/blue cheeses and similar boldly-flavored foods. I wouldn't drink it every day, but it definitely hit the spot last night!

February 26, 2013 - What a great Syrah for $25. All the typical dark fruit suspects with a nice smoke and pipe tobacco finish.
