February 12, 2018 - 1945 DOW VINTAGE PORT- initially, this was somewhat closed and understated, but it came on like gangbusters and took off and gave and gave; it morphed into a big hit of cinnamon and spicy black cherry which was delivered in a full body with a heavy weighted feel.

May 9, 2015 - WOW! Served double blind, everything sniff & sip was a thrill. Overflowing with chocolate covered cherries, figs, plum and spice, the wine was rich, intense, long and complex. OK, it took 70 years to come around, but it was worth the wait for the next generation, or two from the original buyer. I really do not get young Port, but this was close to off the charts.

July 12, 2014 - Chateau bottling in pristine condition. Full, rich and complex, as one would expect from a 1945 that had been well-stored. While perhaps not as painfully intense as the best 1963's that I've had, this was made up for by the its complexity. Powerful nose, pronounced sweetness. Bravo. 97.

July 12, 2014 - This is classic wine. So complex and rich, biting and powerful nose and it follows to a firm, tart and yet broad palate that is sweet and satisfying. A nit would be that it lacks some breadth on the mid-palate, but the positives are clearly dominant here. (Squam Lake)

May 6, 2013 - An Affair to Remember: 1851-1994 (Sammamish, Washington): Very dark ruby in color. Great intensity and fruit on the approach. Some slight herbal notes on the nose, but the full-bodied palate with notes of red currant, pomegranate, and just a touch of spirit made up for any deficiencies on the nose. The tannins were pronounced on the mid-palate and resolved to a nice balance of acidity and tannins on the medium-long finish.
