July 19, 2017 - Tasted at the estate alongside the Spring Mt for 2007 and 2013 vintage comparisons. The more masculine of the two sites, this is a huge wine with thick black fruit which has aged gracefully but still needs another decade to settle down. The herbs are more pronounced with mint and perhaps eucalyptus coming through with some leather notes. I still prefer the more effeminate Spring Mt but cannot help but admire this bomb.

March 5, 2017 - more restrained than i expected. nice black fruit with beautiful herbal -- mint/menthol. still very tannic. a lot of stuffing here, but the herbal hels to keep the flavor profile refined and interesting.

November 18, 2016 - Napa Valley Master Class with Robert Parker; 11/10/2016-11/20/2016 (Napa Valley): During a Napa 2007 horizontal tasting guided by Robert Parker. Brooding nose of dark fruit, smoke, pine tree, this is the most Bordeauxesque nose, Latour like. Massive structure on the palate, lots of tannins, masculine, vulcanic, smoky aromas on the finish. Characterful but a tad rustic. Liked this as well.

March 1, 2016 - YUMMY. Sweet deep dark fruit. Intense. Inky. Light cigar smell. Youthful but VERY enjoyable right now. Won't hurt to wait either.

September 16, 2013 - Winorama with a surprise (engagement)!; 9/15/2013-9/18/2013 (Napa Valley California): Tasted at the Cardinale winery. This was less approachable than the '09 - still very tannic and a bit tight. The shredded duck really helped bring out the flavors though. On the tongue it was just pure velvet with hints of fruit towards the end of the mouthful (unripe blackberries, maybe some black currants). Was a definite favorite of one of the folks at the table and by the end of the tasting might have become mine as well.
