March 27, 2021 - This bottle was in a perfect spot for drinking -- dark fruit, cocoa, coffee, graphite, silky on the palate. Previous bottles were flawed or past peak -- quite a bit of bottle variation.

    June 21, 2020 - PnD let air for 5hrs.

Clear dark ruby with bricking at the rim.

Clean medium intensity with aromas of cassis plum tar licorice and tobacco.

Dry. Medium acidity. Medium alcohol. Medium(+) tannins. Medium body. Medium intensity with flavours of cassis plum tar and tobacco.

Medium finish. Very good. Drink now. Not suitable for further ageing. At its peak. A spoofilated Margaux bit at least they are honest about it see photo of back label. Decent but you feel the Californication. Future vintages not for me.

February 10, 2019 - My first bottle of Mongravey, this wine was a winner. Elegant notes of red fruit, cherry, raspberry and some red currant. Initially a touch tart out of the bottle but resolved with some air time. Added notes of herbs, graphite, burnt wood. A great pairing with our slow-roasted duck with herbs (thyme, sage, rosemary, sea salt), that brought out some lovely Margaux perfume and much smoother and deeper fruit flavors. Different but still good with our wild and long-grained rice (cooked in chicken broth and with some truffle oil added), that brought out the vanilla flavors and more red fruits.

We paid $21 / bottle for this: great QPR.

The wine was mature now but could hold at this level for a little longer -- or maybe even improve for a year or two.

About 90 points without the food and 92 points after being open an hour and with the slow-roasted duck.

May 20, 2018 - Deep red, clear edge with slight blie hint, thick slow drops. Blackberry, nettle, some vegetal notes, cedar wood, graphite / pencil shavings nose. Red cherry, raspberry, some undergrowth, a bit of umami. Lovely fruit, mellow tannins, wonderfully mature at this point. Last bottle of six, a good buy.

December 28, 2017 - A bit of smoke in bouquet?, nice taste of bordeaux wine. Better impression than first bottle. Could buy again. Ready to drink.
