  April 25, 2021 - My selection for the last CWG-D. I handled it in the way describe below after emailing the winery and talking to KR3 (Mr. Rombauer).
  
  3:00pm opened and left inside the cellar upright
  3:15pm placed in the decanter
  3:45pm back into the bottle and back to the cellar
  4:00pm placed in the wine-bag and to the restaurant…
  5:55pm the wine was served and the tasting began:
  
  The color is dark ruby almost purple, the nose is strong with bacon fat and tobacco leafs. Sadly I knew since I transferred from the decanter to the bottle this was going to be an easy pick for my friends in the Blind Tasting. On the palate it’s pretty complex at this point, showing the multidimensional attribute that rewards “time-in-a-bottle”, patient and the pursuit of drinking wines at their peak of their journey… Black Pepper, Eucalyptus, Black currant and olives with cigar box, all combined in this heavenly expression of a well-conceived New World Shiraz!
  
  There is no perceptible oak, tannin and acidity still very much present giving this wine the ability of keep performing at a very high level for at least 5-10 years…
  
  Most of my friends guessed Shiraz but from other countries, they all loved it including myself. I think a longer decant would have undermined the way this wine was perceived and intended to taste, on the other hand it may have fooled my friends.
  
  WOTN by unanimous decision!

  April 5, 2021 - This bottle not so good, tastes like raspberry syrup. Very disappointing when you've been storing and anticipating drinking a wine, especially when its not inexpensive and it disappoints. Part of the wine drinking experience. If you've never seen this wine, it comes in a black velvet bag and the label is black velvet as well.

  March 28, 2021 - First time experience with the velvet glove. It did not disappoint! I could go on and on about how this blew everyone away at last night's dinner. Personally, I love the enormous fruit on the nose and mid palate. Black fruits dominate. Then is framed with a fantastic tannin and acid balanced back bone. Fun wine! But steep at 180.00 for price of admission. Great special occasion wine!

  December 5, 2020 - Deep purplish ruby red. Dark berries and spices on the nose with some floral nuances and caramel. Medium acidity with medium tannins (6/10) and medium plus bodied. Well integrated palate with red berries, caramel and spices. Long finish. Drink till 2024.
