April 9, 2023 - deep clean earth and smooth mixed wild berry. Some gravitas. Full mid palate and has a full mouthfeel for a brunello. Let stand and decant for sediment.
July 22, 2022 - This is a perk-your-head-up Brunello. Opened for four hours, decanted for two hours. All manner of cherry, but spiced with cedar and the right measure of barely-rounded tannins. A treat. Maybe better that it followed a mealtime 2008 BdM, as the latter complemented the rib-eyes well, where this would have been more like competition. As it was, it was terrific with a cheese course.
October 10, 2021 - Beautiful bottle. Silky tannins, deep red fruit, clean earth. Didn't want the bottle to end.
February 5, 2021 - Excellent, and in a perfect drinking window. No off notes: a beautiful bottle, on point fro aged BdM.
December 26, 2020 - Last bottle, nice palate of dark cherries.
September 17, 2020 - clean earth, wild mixed berry, black tea, sotto bosco; good acidity; the fruit is ripe, but for 2006 and its structure, this works well for me.
July 13, 2020 - Medium garnet with red edges. Bright berry, and black currant fruit and pine forest in the background. Dry light berry flavours and a bit of cherry in the light finish.
June 10, 2020 - Consistent with my last couple of notes, not a bad bottle of red wine, but not one that I would identify as Brunello. Others may like this more than I, but the lack of Brunello typicity is at least IMO a failing. With any luck, my last bottle.
December 24, 2019 - I just tried the '06 Costanti and the '08 Stella di Campalto - the nose here may be the most pronounced, but I can't say I would call this Brunello blind. Very ripe red & black fruit on the nose.
Seamless but somewhat straightforward on the palate. This is not a bad wine, and to be honest, if you like California Cabernet you might think it's a very good wine, but I find it somewhat atypical of Brunello, and given the vintage, disappointing.
November 14, 2019 - Nicely maturing BdM; give at an hour or so of air, or decant for a half-hour. Drink or hold.
