December 31, 2023 - Pineapple, vanilla, yellow peach, fresh apricot, honeycomb, nectarine skin, grapefruit, white roses.
Palate: dry, medium plus acidity, medium plus alcohol, medium plus body, medium plus flavour intensity, nectarine skin bitterness, medium plus finish.
Very good. Mature Chenin! Drink now.

December 8, 2023 - Really nice, fully mature, Chenin. Some chamomile flowers coming through alongside a healthy dose of lanolin and apple. Just a touch of honey, but the acid supports it and helps the length remain in balance. Really nice wine - especially for the level and the age.

June 22, 2022 - In a good drinking phase. Lots of almonds with crushed rocks. Interesting appellation. I can see this live for a long period of time.

May 7, 2021 - Two hour decant. Again this wine is brilliant and interesting. Reductive, sulphur, smoke, hay evolving into pear, yellow apple with time and higher temperature. Long finish with yellow apple. Great Chenin Blanc

December 12, 2020 - Wine tasting Bas & Lennart (Lennart thuis, Zeist): Decanted for 20 hours (as that was what the previous bottle needed), but that was clearly too much. Colliflower was the only real aroma left...

Still one bottle in the cellar

October 19, 2020 - Have always been a lover of Chenin Blanc and been fortunate to try a lot of Baumard's wines over the years. Mid yellow, certainly a very floral, honeyed nose with a richness that hints as to why they produce such great sweet wines. This is rich but totally dry and the all important balancing acidity is just right even 13 years after picking. A lovely wine the fact it has aged so well is a testimony to its quality.

September 14, 2020 - GIVE THIS BEAST SOME AIR. Drank over 3 days. or DECANT the snot out of it. Really pretty wine if you give it some space. Lanolin, hay, bruised meyer lemon, garam masala (?) mandarin skin. Very complex but this wine doesn't reward eagerness to open. Give it space and time. Also a BIG wine. Needs big food with acidity.

September 7, 2020 - Gang of 5 in Covid19 times; Loire (@ RW): Very expressive bouquet with apples. On the palate a firm amount of sweetness, ripe tropical fruits, some bitterness and slightly oxidized impressions. Nevertheless very enjoyable wine.

June 21, 2020 - Unusual, special, but very nice wine. Better when decanted. Very aromatic with a bit of flintstone. Kardemom, honey, citrus, quite complex. Very nice

June 4, 2020 - Ageworthy Loire white wines (Zoom!): Deeper yellow. Whole bunch, stainless steel fermentation and ageing. Super rich on the nose - a floral black hole. So intense on the palate. Full-on honey, but plenty of acidity. How can honey be bitter too? 15% and open knit. Really big and opulent. Waxy and smoky. Not sure I 'get' it, but glad to have tried.
