May 6, 2023 - too late
October 28, 2022 - Good, needed to breathe for at least 2 hours to open up. Smooth tannins, although could age for another 5-7years. Fruit not jumping out of the glass, reasonable body and length
September 24, 2022 - Nez un peu passé.
February 10, 2022 - Lots of ble fruit, some bitterness on the finish. Hope this does soften. Good but needs more time.
June 26, 2021 - This is in a great spot, and is a great affordable everyday drinker.
July 11, 2020 - Deep garnet colour with a plummy, porty nose which I didn't find altogether pleasant. After a while it develops some savoury notes of rosemary and coffee. Fairly delicate in the mouth with some nice, light tannins.
July 8, 2020 - The Terroirs of Saint-Emilion (Zoom!): Not classified, but owned by same family as Ausone. Dominant sandy soil so doesn't typically do well in warm vintages, where maturation can get stuck, but can make for aromatic wines.
2009 is 65% Merlot, 25% CS, 7% PV, rest CF - reflects the warm soil type. Fairly deep, violet nose, with a hint of plastic. Palate is cool but doesn't lack flavour. Tasty dark, almost burned, flavours on the finish. Still quite tannic on the finish, although these are relatively fine-grained - reflects the CS. Fully ready, but not hugely exciting
July 8, 2020 - 67PM tasting: The Terroirs of St Emilion with Jane Anson
Crimson with hints of orange to the rim.
Blackberry, bell pepper, spice plum on the nose
Exceptionally delicate and light in the palate. Bright.
30% new oak
highly quaffable, outperforms the price.
May 4, 2020 - This is in a great state right now!
2,5h decant, which I recommend. Dark red-black colour, slightly brown fringes. Smooth palate (dark berries, oak, milky chocolate, light herbs) with a strong backbone and long finish. This should easily last another decade.
July 24, 2019 - Really singing.
