April 9, 2019 - We drank this alongside a Marquis de Terme 2009 and it was an interesting comparison. (I've copied this note to both wines)

I decanted the Gloria 3.5 hours ahead of drinking. Put it back in the bottle an hour later then back in a decanter at the restaurant. It was in a good place when we started to drink it: very well balanced fruit, acidity and mild smooth tannin. Excellent, quite fruity claret. But over the next 90 minutes the fruit did start to fade a little, so care is needed not to give this too much air.

The Marquis de Terme, on the other hand, I decanted 7 hours before we started to drink, put it back in the bottle at 2.5 hours ahead, then back in a decanter at the restaurant. And even with that much air it was still evolving in a positive direction when we started to drink, crossing over the Gloria so that 90 minutes later it was the Marquis de Terme with the better balance and fruit coming to the fore.

Both excellent wines, but an interesting case study in the effect of air and time.

February 24, 2019 - Apogée ou pas tout à fait, très bonne attaque, reste encore du fruit, tanins arrondis.

January 31, 2019 - I have to agree with the 3 tasting notes below, but this is not a bad wine for the money and it's drinkable now.
First night, this wine was very approachable after a 1 hour decant. It had a good, medium body, mellow acidity, and soft tannins with a medium finish. If you intend to drink it in 1 night, then let it decant for an hour.
Second night, sitting here with a glass and the nose is slightly floral, hint of menthol, and some oak. It swirls around in the mouth with dark fruits, cassis, cherry cola, and a finish of some very light cocoa followed by a little tartness lasting for 15 seconds or so. The wine continues to evolve in the glass it it's not bad at all!
It does not strike me as a California wine at all, but a good, inexpensive Bordeaux that will accommodate an average weekend meal.

(Château Gloria) Very dark red violet color; oak, roast coffee, tart black fruit nose; tart currant, tart black fruit, roast coffee palate; medium finish (61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot)

(Château Gloria (St Julien)) A slightly deeper, richer, more roasted style of fruit than seen with St Pierre, the other Triaud wine, but the toasted oak elements are very similar. No less impressive on the palate though, where the very solid layers of fruit are interwoven with coffee and savoury spice. Supple, structured, with a good solid feel to the substance of the wine, with plenty of midpalate weight and the necessary tannin and acidity to support it. Quite grippy in the finish. An impressive effort for Gloria.
