June 26, 2021 - Notes of ripe blackberry, with just a hint of over-ripeness, creamy vanilla and raspberry liqueur. In the mouth, it's quite lush, with creamy blackberry at first, then a fresher middle section of purer blackcurrant which saves it from a descent into syrupiness, the finish being long, quite lush, and again just crisp enough.
Very fine, but I preferred the 2010 tasted alongside. The latter has 13.5° compared to the 2009's 14° and it is both fresher and purer.

May 12, 2021 - Rather nice James! I think I smell a bit of Bordeaux and my mouth is puckered up! This is not done... drink or hold! This puppy has allot of fight left in him!

December 21, 2020 - Five years have elapsed since I last tasted this, and I was expecting it to show greater maturity than it did. Decanted for an hour and drunk over the next four. The depth of red colour surprised me, but more so did the slight crimson tinge. It looks ever so much more youthful than its 11 years. The nose starts with cedar, barrique and spells cabernet dominance straight away, but the fruit, while clearly ripe, seems a little coy. Fullish to full body, the palate is clearly very concentrated and robust, but a bit on the four-square side and lacking nuance. That is not to say that it didn't hit the sweet spot, which it undoubtedly did around three hours in. But, with the last glass poured and an expectation that the the wine was about to fully open up, it incomprehensibly closed down, in a moment. And so it sat, sulking behind a wall of oak staves and didn't show its face again. This very good plus Haut-Medoc is still juvenile and should be good company in 3-4 years time.

November 26, 2020 - Colour: Dense ruby red. No noticeable browning or ageing.
Nose: Faint note of smoke and mint. Disappointing.
Taste: Blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, with a minty undertone and faint note of tobacco. Opulent, with sweet ripe fruit supported with firm melting tannins. There’s a lick of dark chocolate on the finish which is moderate to average in length.
Impression: Very solid and four-square, but lacks breeding, elegance and refinement. Nonetheless, it delivers what it says on the tin, even though it’s a bit gawky and clunky. That said, there’s lots of claret character to enjoy. It’s still backward, it was a big bold vintage, and may open out and improve.
Is it a bad wine? No. Would I buy it again? Probably not. There are better wines available in the same price bracket. Score: 84 points.

The black cherry is more to the fore and the black chocolate now prominent on the finish. My comments from the previous night still hold true and this wine is not going to get any better.
