November 19, 2022 - Method: Coravin "pop" and pour; fridge temp; white wine glass

    Look: medium gold

Nose: white grape juice (sorry), white peach, honey, fresh stream water, light ginger

Palate: yellow peach, fresh ginger, minerality; medium+ finish of lemon, ginger, floral, touch of fresh herbs, honey, salt; medium sweetness; medium- body; high- acidity which is balanced out nicely by the RS at first but leaves your tongue tingling a bit on the finish

Overall thoughts: Great balance and tension. Very nice complexity as the flavors transition from fruit to more spices and mineral notes. The spice notes and the acidity leave a wonderful lasting impression on my palate. There aren't any tertiary notes, but this is nicely integrated and showing very well right now. Excellent wine!

May 8, 2022 - Popped and poured and another great bottle. Still youthful with layered orchard and hints tropical fruit. Good acidity and rich mouth feel.

March 31, 2022 - Prior bottle was only 5 months ago and while this bottle was a step down from my prior bottle, I think that was mainly due to negative bottle variation. Golden peach, pineapple and other tropical notes on the nose that was noticeably more advanced than my prior bottle. Medium bodied with white peach and a touch of more rounded apple upfront, moving quickly to yellow and gold peach through the middle along with pineapple, mango and even a touch of honey. Orange, lemon and other citrus notes along with mineral qualities on the back and through the finish. The big difference here was the acidity. In my prior bottle it was powerful and lively, serving to both balance and define the fruit. In tonight bottle it was much more of a background note, far overshadowed by the fruit. It still showed good complexity, but without the strength of the acidity, the wine shows well, but simply not as special as it was previously. The cork hadn't failed, but it wasn't in the best shape. I think this was a preview of what this wine might be a number of years in the future.

January 10, 2022 - Popped and enjoyed over a few days. Layered with sweet orchard and stone fruit. Acidity is present but perhaps slightly out of balance with the rich fruit profile. Unctuous mouth feel. An enjoyable wine now but might be better in 5 years.

November 21, 2021 - Light gold. Not sure what was going on with this bottle (first I've opened), but I found this uninspiring. One note of white peach in the aromas, palate is similarly straightforward, with round fruit and not enough acidity to liven in up. Unexceptional finish. Maybe I could this at an awkward moment, but it really didn't seem to be as expressive as I expect from S-F.

October 17, 2021 - Prior bottle was 26 months ago and this wine continues to show impressively. Apple, peach and tropical notes on the nose along with floral and mineral qualities. Medium bodied with white apple and white peach upfront. Gains depth through the middle, adding yellow peach, white and yellow pineapple and mango. Backside retains excellent acidity along with tart orange, lemon and other citrus qualities. As compared to my prior bottle, the mid-body is opening up nicely, there's increased complexity but at the same time, the acidity is still vibrant and the tart citrus qualities on the back provide excellent balance. At it's present stage, I really enjoy the balance between the mid-body fruit and backside acidity. While I have no doubt this wine has a number of years ahead of it, I suspect I won't be long before I open my next bottle....

September 20, 2021 - Drinking well, some hints of petrol on the nose, less so on the palate, still a bit sweet, but with ample cut to keep it from being cloying. No rush to consume remaining bottle.

September 17, 2020 - I really liked this when I tasted it upon release, and this showing really solidified the impression. Still in a bit of an adolescence, but this is nevertheless a very solid Spatlese with a long life ahead of it. There was just a hint of kerosene starting to come out on the nose, along with lovely accents of white peach and honeyed pears, these underlined with a twist of citrus and just that little tone of minerality. Where this shone was on the palate - here, it unfolded in the mouth with a lovely creamy flow of stone fruit, sweet apple and pear notes laced with bright citrus acidty, all moving into a nice finish crowned with a little garland of white flowers. A really nicely integrated, whole, and very complete mouthful. A truly lovely wine, just starting to coming into its own now. I will wait a couple of years until the next bottle - I think it will be lovely then.
