June 24, 2019 - Served vis-avis Trollat, a bit more matter here, yet balance is great, real terroir feeling too.
December 19, 2018 - Syrah Night with an Expanded Version of Our Tasting Group (Bear and Star, Los Olivos, CA): Not the best bottle due to a persistent barnyard funk that would not blow off. Reductive, with muted plum, fennel and herbal notes. Fully integrated tannins.
November 16, 2018 - Aging absolutely gracefully. No bricking at all. Full of classic Syrah notes, still years of development ahead
April 9, 2018 - Saturated ruby, rubber glove nose, clean dark cherry, hints of herb and olive and minerals on the end. Really classy and well balanced.
Second half of bottle, three weeks later (Coravin), sweeter fruit, cherry liqueur.
March 30, 2016 - Really love wine. compelling balance between elegant floral nose and earthy, plums and acid on palate. Definite depth and energy. Obvious tannins and acid become too dominant after about 1 hour in decanter. Would drink now and pair with aromatic but earthy food (think mushrooms).
August 17, 2015 - While I always enjoy a bottle of Chave this one tasted a touch over the hill. Would drink up if you have them.
July 19, 2015 - Rhone Tasting: Smooth and earthy nose, peppery, silky plum fruit. Fleshy and silky palate, pure black cherries and plums, a good dose of peppered jerky, granite, fire pit and violets. Drinking wonderfully now, but could hold.
July 31, 2014 - Well 92, okay it's Chave always a trill, maybe 91.
For 15 years it is quite good. Nice "astringence" (french)
not to hard. Very long. 12.5 % alcool (the norm in 1999)
Nice Ruby color.
Drink it up, can't be better!!!!
May 23, 2013 - Nice wine. Very pure nose of meat and pepper, but fresh. Doesn't feel like a 14 years old wine. Good acidic back-bone. Finish is a bit short.
