June 18, 2014 - Rich coffee and chocolate aromas with hint of mulberry, plum and cherries. The sweet aromas of vanilla and banana, typical of Pinotage, follow through on the palate.

April 13, 2013 - Typisk pinotage, kaffe, choklad, läder, fyllig. Passade utmärkt till oxen med rödvinssky.

March 18, 2012 - still great interesting wine with leather, chocolate and coffee notes, this time stood up better even 2 days after opening. great taste-price profile.

January 20, 2012 - Wild wine. Nose full of dark cherry, smoke and leather. Palate has the unmistakable flavor of a charcoal barbecue just ignited with lighter fuel. Yes, cherry, leather and chocolate are all there, but I can't shake the flavor of charcoal briquettes. Tannins are easy, soft and round. Overall, very interesting but I can't see drinking this with any frequency.

January 3, 2012 - Delicious and meaty. This is a great counterpoint to the fruity sparklers the holidays brought.

December 22, 2011 - beautiful nose - very distinctive - strong leather chocolate/coffee notes. well-structured and warm spicy on the finish. Best to drink in 1 day - it did not hold up as well ( more sharpness) on day 2. Overall a very good bottle, will work well with griilled meats, but it has so much aroma it willl also work with cheese or solo.

September 30, 2011 - Decent but not great. This was strangely medium-bodied and acidic for a Pinotage. Granted, it's been a while since I've had a good Pinotage in South Africa, living in Washington State for more than a decade. Most of the pinotage that makes it over here is pretty cheap and cheerful. This bottle lacked any of the funky, barnyard, green/vegetal or spicy notes I think of when I think of good Pinotage. (Some would argue and say that is the mark of "bad pinotage" but whatever...)
It had a short finish with lots of acid and not much in the way of tannins. The nose was fruity and a little sweet (oak) but not very enticing - I didn't get any coffee notes that other mentioned. Not over-oaked or overdone, but ultimately it ends up tasting too generic. Close your eyes and you may think you're drinking a cheap California cab.

August 18, 2011 - My wife liked this more than I did. Had an extremely dominant scorched earth profile to it that I wasn't a huge fan of. But it was at least an interesting bottle.

August 13, 2011 - Read the other notes - and i get some of the same experience, but even after some air and 1 later - the nose is massive earth/barnyard - not bad, but interesting in that for first time - this brought me to my local zoo and same smell you get in the small animal pens...and i've smelt my share of "barnyard'y" wines...palate does transition to a lot more fruit/leather/burnt coffee - but that underlying barnyard quality is there which i think is the heady oak...not quite my style, BUT with some interesting food combo's may pair well as others have mentioned...
