October 1, 2023 - Had a second glass via Coravin, not really singing tonight

September 29, 2023 - Dark and dense color, spice, herbs, cinnamon on the nose, with herbs, blackberries, black tea, prevalent tannins, youthful. Needs more time or more decanter time but I gave it a couple of hours

May 24, 2023 - Elegantly Smokey with charcoal taste and full body.

  • La Cave d'Argent Likes this wine: 93 points

December 9, 2022 - Purchased upon release and cellared under ideal conditions, this bottle was decanted off of its sediment and serially tasted over a three-hour period. A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Malbec, 13% Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot and 1% Carménère, it is a heavily-extracted wine that remains remains a youthful opaque ruby in color. Rich and viscous, it delivers a ripe package of dark bramble fruits, baking spices, licorice, loamy earth and bittersweet chocolate. Full-bodied, low-to-medium in acidity and with well-assimilated oak, it wraps its flavors with plentiful silky-textured tannins and keeps its 15.1% alcohol in check. Plump on the mid-palate and lengthy on the back end, this New World Bordeaux-style blend is aging at a glacial pace. I greatly underestimated the longevity of this wine when last tasting it in 2014. Comparably cellared bottles should easily reach their 25th birthday. If you choose to pop the cork at this juncture, give it an hour or more in decanter if possible. Drink now-2032.

February 5, 2022 - Drinking very well, full bodied, this wine has what one would hope from a mature CA bordeaux, earthy, dark fruit, long finish. But it also has some black pepper, mild cinnamon, and granite to the finish, likely from the malbec and merlot adding to the complexity and a change from what one would expect from the terroir of the region.
