February 9, 2022 - This was really nice, with a lifted, penetrating aroma. The wine is mature and integrated with nice depth of fruit (by traditional Barolo standards). I found the profile here quite classic with a dusty, earthy, leathery, bright presentation with an essence of unsweetened cocoa powder that couldn’t be anything but Nebbiolo. There’s the quintessential note of railroad-tracks creosote here, what I imagine many call ‘tar’. Nothing really to fault this bottle at all, I just suspected that someone who really digs Barolo would have enjoyed this a lot more than I did (as I’ve come to accept that Nebbiolo just ain’t in my preferred wheelhouse). Still, I’d go 91 pts on this.

June 16, 2021 - Double-decanted off of moderate amount of fine sediment. Deep red color with some browning but not much thinning at the edge. Aromas of leather, tar, moss, tea, and some remnant of a berry fruit. On the palate, the wood is fully integrated but this remains a burly wine with plenty of tannin still lurking beneath an earth, leather, and meat flavor profile that has some plum, berry, and licorice character that sneaks in on the finish. I don't see this getting better to my tastes, but also don't see it falling apart anytime soon. Drink.

May 24, 2020 - My first time with this bottling, it was enjoyable but in the mature/nearing the end of the road type of way; maybe a few more years, if this bottle is representative. Medium ruby with some brown at the rim. Medium-bodied, with gentle aromas and flavors that seems to favor place slightly ahead of grape. Some leather, black truffle, soil, and cherry. Acids and tannins are balancing, the finish is avg/avg+. Enjoyable, but should be drunk sooner than later. Would have loved to have tried this shortly after release. recommended

November 7, 2019 - Lovely mature barolo. Nose is tart cherry and roses and old leather. Nice fruit concentration with pronounced red fruits and classic mature barolo woodsy undertones. I had three of these bottles in the cellar. Sadly, the first one was corked. This second bottle was very enjoyable. I would say drink up at this point as I doubt they make it much past 2025.

November 28, 2013 - consistent with my prior bottles, though this and the last came up just short of the first bottle i had, it often happens this way… perhaps expectations too high?, was favorite pick among the italian wines served to the family over thanksgiving dinner
