Community Tasting Notes 9

July 27, 2014 - Medium red colour. In the nose blackcurrants, other dark berries, spice, some dried herbs and barnyard aromas. Light-to-medium bodied with a mixture of red and dark berries, some tannins, fine acidity that gives freshness, and a fresh and fruity aftertaste. 85 p.
I found fewer things in the nose this time around compared to 2,5 years ago.

August 4, 2012 - Drinking Outside of the Box, But not Drinking Well (Irene's Garden): Dark red color. Decanted for 1 hours. Drank 1.5 oz over 15 minutes. Nose has some nice ripe raspberry, cherry. The palate is thin, cherry, a bit stemmy, prominent acid and a short finish. Very disappointing from a region I enjoy very much.

February 12, 2012 - Deep red colour with a slight purple tinge. In the nose smoke, dried herbs and some dark berries, a hint of liquorice, black olives, barnyard and leather. Light-to-medium bodied with a mixture of red and dark berries, some tannin of good texture, good acidity. Good balance between tannin and fruit in the aftertaste. Displays clear Cabernet Franc aromas without being overtly "green" in any negative sense, fresh and well balanced, an excellent food wine to match with lighter foods.

January 15, 2012 - If you love olives, you will like this wine. Overwhelming aromas of olives n the nose and on the palate. There is something zippy about this wine that wakes you up. It degraded quite a bit on day two.

March 11, 2011 - Decanted 1 hour before drinking; dark blueish purple color, moving to dark ruby toward the rim. Nose of gravel, raspberries, and hints of violets and creme---not a super expressive nose, but the fruit became more pronounced as the wine oxygenated. Palate was a bit muted, with blueberries, dust, and a tough of something green....asparagus? Finish was medium length. Medium weight which belied its color. Overall, a clearly well made wine that was an intellectual endeavorer for me, but didn't have anything that really sat me up and made me take notice.
