November 4, 2019 - Decanted an hour. Our of the bottle it was muted with vanilla on the nose, but with an hour of air it is reasonably good right now, showing soft, ripe fruit. But at 3 hours the secondaries start to show along with some buffering tannin. Nice, elegant, right bank wine that hits the mark. A-

September 27, 2019 - Opened and followed over 5 hours or so. Spice, dark and red fruit and just a touch of green. Really nice wine and drinking well right now.

August 31, 2019 - Decanted 60 minutes. Clear paling to rim. A fairly intense nose with warm saddle leather, ripe blackberries, perfumed spices and rich savouryness. Palate is relatively rich & balanced with some acidity and light, fine tannins with light blackcurrants and plenty of savoury meatiness - however, frankly it lacks some depth and power and is certainly showing its age now. A very creditable wine in this tricky year but drinking now-2020.

July 21, 2019 - Quite an pleasurable claret, but nothing to be leaping in the air with joy about. On the nose a touch of woodsmoke, cream, saddle leather. Overall so soft it's almost soupy - the tannins have lost their vigour and firmness here. The fruit has charm and prettiness, but not the overwhelming intensity you'd hope for from a wine of this price and prestige. I think this wine hasn't aged impressively - it probably peaked around 2012. A nice enough Pomerol but far from exciting.
