November 9, 2016 - The wine certainly is showing its age. It is dark reddish-brown in color, inky, matte. Aromas of berries (red and blue), coffee, chocolate, and cinnamon with a whiff of oranges. A rustic smell.
Full bodied, dusty drying tannins, a medium mouthfeel .... not too dense, not too light. Nice structure overall, medium to medium minus acidity. Starts off with slightly bitter fruits … cranberry, dark berries, and some oranges No sweetness to the fruit …. Savoury and black tea bitterness. Nice decent mid length finish which shows some coffee and chocolate and a touch reduced on the finish. Definitely a more rustic feel to the wine. Nice drinking and decent complexity but not elegant in nature.
A tad pricey for what it is, but certainly has a unique feel to the wine.
