March 12, 2015 - Amazing buy @ $15 from Benchmark bin sale. Eucalyptus, mint, vanilla, smoke and a bevy of fruit flavors. Prime drinking with a rich and forever aftertaste. For those in the know, worthy of a cabin wine. 94+

December 29, 2013 - These appear to be all badly flawed. Very stinky in a gross way.

April 20, 2013 - One of the first bottles of Shiraz I bought 6-7 years. I've had many of Glaetzer's wines. And would rank this one with the Bishop and Mitolo GAM.

After 10 years of bottling, cracking my final bottle. Cellared perfectly and upon uncorking there was an immediate scent of ripe fresh fruit, dark berries, cotton candy, caramel, little bit of earth and some oak. On the palette, its slightly sweet (similar to the Amon-Ra except without the finesse and pedigree). Again lots of ripe berries, not over extracted and well balanced. The tannins are still slightly grippy. I believe this will still nicely last another 2 years before it starts to decline. But its in a great place right now and highly recommend opening now. You know its ready when it tastes this good. My first bottle was opened 4 years ago. But this one today is hands down the better bottle of the 2. Nice long finish too. Very tasty wine.

Only downside is that its a little one dimensional. The fruits are all there but if you are looking for more, might be disappointed. Regardless, I really like this wine. And a great way to end my final bottle.

July 3, 2009 - The cork was in good shape; there was some sediment in the bottle. The first thing I noticed was the great, dark colour. The wine had a great nose right of the bat, with sweet spices, crushed pepper, ripe fruits and chocolate notes, just gorgeous! After a short decant the nose was even more intriguing, showing mint, white pepper, sweet spices, chocolate, plum, cassis and vanilla; the aromas took over the whole room.

The wine was slightly sweet, just a hair. The palate showed cassis, blackberry, chocolate, mocha, pepper, liquorice, and mouth-watering acidity. The wine was extremely smooth! The finish was long. The nice transition of flavours was remarkable. The mouth-feel was plush and warm. Wow, this wine was just delicious, balanced and smooth!

There is no need to cellar this wine any longer; it is drinking perfectly well right now. I would, however, guess that it will hold up for another two to three years. 92+ points.

March 10, 2009 - nice nose - blackberries, mint, meat. decanted for 1.5 hours. on the palette - blackberries, oak, vanilla, mint, red meat, nice flavours with a medium-long finish. i like 04 wallace and the 04 director's better. however, this is still a nice tasty wine, tannins are smooth, acidity is balanced. think this will last for another 2 years easily. a good interesting wine. 91-92.

February 24, 2009 - Stylistically thisis similar to the 04 Amon Ra tasted a couple of months ago. Ripe creamy red and blue fruit, gentle vanilla and a very smooth, lush, finish. Lacks some minerality and complexity for me and some acidity, but very decent for what it is and there is enough interest to merit a glass or two. A third of the bottle left overnight and very little difference. An enjoyable mid-week steak number. ***

May 22, 2008 - It took some time for the different components of this wine to integrate, but after two hours in the decanter this was a great bottle of Shiraz.

The nose was gorgeous, with plum, cassis, pepper, a hint of milk chocolate and a poopy kind of note. I could have smelled this all day long! The balanced wine had a nice, warm, creamy mouth-feel. I got a little sweetness on the initial palate, with plum, berries and pepper, transitioning to milk chocolate, a tiny little hint of vanilla, mocha and finally liquorice on the back-end and finish. The long, long finish is very peppery and goes on and on and on…

This is textbook Australian Shiraz, very well made. We paired it with grilled rump steak topped with blue cheese and the pairing went very well. My girlfriend and I tried to save one glass for the next evening, but we were unable to stand the temptation...

    May 5, 2008 - dark-rubin colour with black center,
in the nose stewed cherry fruit and a hint of pepper.
on the palate also dark fruits, very thight but for all that elegant, with pleasant tannins. despite the high alcohol it is harmonic with all attributes of a great wine. I would recommend storage of maximum 8 years. At € 20,-- good PQR.
