Community Tasting Notes 3

October 17, 2015 - Drinking beautifully right now! If not peak, darn well near it!

Had I smelled this blind I would've said it's a old world style Napa Cab. Luscious dark fruits, loam, mushroom, and a touch of spiciness on the nose.

Big blackberry and strawberry fruit and a touch of sweetness. The earth notes of the nose come through on the edges. Smooth, almost velvet, mouthfeel. Strong smooth finish with nice acidic balance.

Very uncharacteristic style for the Willamette area. I love old world wines so this one is a hit with me. If you're into more representative Willamette Pinot this might not be a favorite for you.

February 10, 2013 - This wine is a fantastic example of the Chehalem hills. It has nice balance with fruit and acidity. We found this wine on a tasting tour on Labor Day in 2012. Kathy Redman was pouring that day and shared some lovely stories of her husband Bill.

November 16, 2011 - Popped and poured. Drank with poached wild-caught Alaskan King Salmon purchased fresh, in Seattle, from Pike Place Fish Market. A very nice pairing it turned out. This bottle expressed a very attractive bouquet of homemade strawberry preserves...and there was this rustic thing going on behind the scenes that intrigued me. It played second fiddle to the fruit up front but it was there...and I liked it. Some sort of spice...garrigue or something which may sound unusual but then again, I only rarely get into Pinot Noir so my ability to describe it may be a bit more crude than usual. I found the body to be quite full...thin was an adjective that came to mind (and often does with many Pinot's I try. Good acids too. A very nice to outstanding wine really and I would encourage anyone to seek it out, though, it doesn't seem to be very well known to many here on CT...
