December 26, 2020 - Was a little nervous to try this one again so much later; had meant to drink it and the Van Ness already by now, but hadn't found the right situation. Well, here we are day after Christmas needing a standalone sipper for family movie night, and it seemed about right.

Still an inky opaque on this teenager, with purplish ruby edges. Smells like earth, funk, mushrooms, graphite, dark fruits, smoke, tar, and violet. Medium body, medium (+) acid and finish, with flavors of black and blue fruits, drying black tea, lemon, and a little spice and mineral. Tannins have a little grip yet. Interesting. Good showing; I'm looking forward to the Van Ness. My last bottle, but I think it could last a few more years based on what I'm drinking here. Pair with a gourmet type burger or sip it standalone. Cheers.

June 24, 2018 - Decant essential: an hour did wonders for softening the tannins. Fruit is starting to fade, drink up.

November 12, 2016 - Dense, opaque coloring with ruby to garnet at the edges. Aromas of dark fruit, earthy funk, and graphite. Medium body, medium(+) acid and finish, and flavors of cassis, black raspberry, dried spices, and graphite minerality. Had alongside the Van Ness and we prefer that one to this.

August 1, 2015 - Popped and poured. No formal notes. Tasted side-by-side with the Van Ness bottling of the same vintage. Both were very nice and I recall very little difference between the two other than the Van Ness was a touch fatter than the Stagecoach. Regardless, I found both to be slowly fading and neither brought as much pleasure as they had a few years back. Drink now.

March 21, 2015 - 88-90: I don't disagree with the other (higher) ratings, just marked down a touch for the style in my book. Typical of very good North Coast syrah, this wine has really thick fruit tannins. Everything else is in good balance. Very good.
