March 15, 2024 - René Engel: So consistent. Minty and tropical with electricity to match. Huge and delineated wine showing better than 05 on the side when opened but eventually peaked to the limit of the vintage, which is already a very very high ceiling. 95-96

March 15, 2024 - Rene Engel Dinner (Benoit Bistro, Manhattan): Very linear and pure. Acid very much alive in contrast to the 05 drank side by side. A vibrant wine in perfect balance.

June 17, 2023 - Yoghurt, green meadow grass, peach, tropical fruit, coconut, buttery, caramel, stony, oily, mouth-coating cotton candy. Best bottle yet, richly and classically Batard, so great, clean, resolved, forceful with heat. Complete tropical heaven. 95-96

September 26, 2022 - Electric yellow fruit, peach, pear, sweet anise, spice, meadowwood, salt and marshmallow. Lightly green in profile but satisfactorily electric, so much more to come with aging. Needs some acidity if one is being picky. 95

January 17, 2021 - Powerful nose with toasted aromas. I find it a little Coche side.
Voluminous palate on an imposing substance. The juice is mineral on wet stones with a little fat and great tension. With time, very marked saline aromas will come. The wine has a huge presence in the mouth, complex and deep, it loosens completely.
The finish tightens up a bit, with that salty side that will not leave the wine to finish on a length that I would have liked more in line with the mouth which was magnificent.

It's great though, just that the lack of length prevents him from leveling up.

December 10, 2019 - Acker BYO 2019 (Tribecal Grill): My favorite white of the night. Mint, peach, pear, white florals, soil, salt, anise spice. Great complexity and balance; just layers and layers of electricity. Still more potential. 95

September 12, 2018 - lovely, toasty nose, with lemon citrus notes. Ripe and rounded on the palate, but still vibrant.

September 3, 2018 - Labor Day Burgundy Insanity at Paulee du Hersh 9/1-2/18 (Denver, CO): Again that slight hint of mint on the nose. Lovely length and acidity.

July 27, 2018 - Served blind. White wine of the day, absolutely gobsmacking. At first I thought there was a hint of TCA, but fortunately I was mistaken and the initial funk blew off. From there it was magical. So dense, palate staining, like licking a rock. This is so intense, so delicious, it's better than any '01 Ramonet Montrachet I've tasted in years (we've had some flawed or tired examples).
