  June 20, 2013 - Color: medium straw yellow. Nose of grapefruit, hazelnuts, butterscotch. Wonderful palate of lemon curd, grapefruit, almonds and a touch of caramel. This is finally hitting it's stride; I think these Chalone Pinot Blancs take at least 6-8 years to finally knit themselves together and open up -- much longer on average than any other California white I know of and the reason I buy them by the case and age them. Great body. stucture and acidity; delicious now but plenty of time in hand. One of the great bargains to be found in California if you choose to walk a quiet and different path from most.
