    November 13, 2016 - Inky, dark purple color. The nose is packed with blackberry and plum as well as a spicy note and minerals with air. The palate followed the nose, but I was pleasantly surprised by how integrated the tannins were. I anticipated a tannic beast to go with BBQ pork, but what I got was a sturdy wine with evident, but balanced, tannin. On day two, it had integrated more and seemed to move toward redder fruit. Overall, I found this to be surprisingly approachable but with enough of everything to last for another 8-10 years.

    October 29, 2016 - very mellow and complex with cedar, strawberry and mushroom notes most evident. long finish.

    July 10, 2016 - As most of these wines time in the decanter is an absolute necessity.
    Once opened huge aromas of rich huckleberry, blueberry compote, blackberry and violet pastilles are drenched in scents of vanilla and black pepper accompanied by notes of toasty oak, lavender, anise and devils food cake.
    On the palate this massive, rich and brooding wine delivers flavors of blueberry, blackberry and huckleberry that are laced with pepper and macerated in vanilla. Notes of candied violets and lavender intermingle with hints of star anise, French oak, clove and chocolate ganache. The medium-plus acidity keeps this lively and balanced against the polished tannins. High alcohol but not hot. The finish is long and intense showing off its youthful expressions.

    July 6, 2015 - Heavier than I recall from my tasting room notes. Jammier than before, tannins were fine and still a bit rough, had to decant too, would not take this bottle as is now with a big plate, someone else smartly noted it is almost better for a slow dessert course- agree. Still young for PS by my standards, but I had a go.

    June 23, 2014 - drinking very well now. Complex nose of cedar, strawberry, rhubarb and apricot. On the palate layers of fruit, spice and cedar leading to a long finish.

    August 24, 2013 - Dark purple to the rim, Nice full fruit nose. A little jammy - but full, deep red fruit on attach and long finsh. Just a touch of tannins at the finish. Went great as an appertife with dark chocolate covered cranberries.

    November 25, 2012 - Dark opaque with deep purple core. The wine has high viscosity and concentration level.
    Massive concentrated aromas that are in need of definite air time. After breathing aromas present with floral scents of violet that play into the muscular aromas of vanilla, wood, blackberry and blueberry reduction, smoke and ash as well as aromas of mixed ground peppercorns.
    The palate is as big as the nose foretells. A huge one-two punch from the dense flavors that are counter balanced with moderate-plus acidity. This full bodied wine features peppery seasoned flavors of blackberry, blueberry and wild huckleberry, against serious toasted wood and balsamic flavors. The finish is long with spiced rum cake notes.
    Needs more time, should cellar well for the next 5-10.
