August 15, 2019 - I'm a big Sociando fan! Always value for money! I even like them most is lesser vintages like 2004 is. After 15 years the nose is beautiful and rich. Nose is great; with leather and some smokiness. Spot on now on the palate. Tasty, nice tannins and with a long finish. Well done.

July 19, 2019 - Just what you expect from a Bordeaux. Very restrained, dusty tannins, balanced fruit and great length. I know 2004 is not viewed as a particularly good year, but I personally enjoy the tighter style from this year.

    May 31, 2019 - Very, very good. Margaux-like, soft, velvet, Merlot-fruit. Absolutely worth it’s price (35€).

(Chateau Sociando-Mallet Haut-Médoc) Tasted over lunch, this already shows a delightfully maturing fruit character on the nose, with fresh red fruits intermingling with notes of tea leaves. Fresh, gentle, stylish, but with quite a lot of structure, this is showing fine composition and substance today. Very good indeed.

(Chateau Sociando Mallet Haut-Médoc) This has lovely, vibrant, pure and gravelly fruit on the nose; it is so typical of Sociando. It has a lively and vivacious character which is very appealing, and a soft, fruit-rich entry. Bright flavours, some black fruits too on the midpalate, and a core of ripe tannin. Fairly well framed substance, bright acidity, and a rich fruit finish. Lots of appeal here; I like this very much.

(Chateau Sociando-Mallet Haut-Médoc) A glossy hue, and a lovely nose of stylish, dark fruits. Quite fresh, cherry perfume, overall a very appealing style. The palate is supple and softly composed at first, but there is substance underneath it all, with nicely composed acidity and tannins. A vigorous character, this is attractive with really very good potential.

(Chateau Sociando-Mallet Haut-Médoc) A lovely style, fresh and laden with fruit. Fine presence, quite reserved and classically stylish, with a firm texture, but underneath this a nice grippy backbone. It has fresh acidity and a well balanced composition. Vibrancy and vigour here. Just as good as I recall from my tasting at the estate last year.

(Chateau Sociando-Mallet Haut-Médoc) Real character here, classic styled, youthful smoky claret, quite pure fruit presented in a very stylish fashion. Lovely extract and texture on the palate, quite fine, sweetly textured though, with good grip. Fine style, weight and presence, yet just a little dark in character as well as colour. Very good indeed.
