June 19, 2018 - Definite mint.wintergreen, immediate thoughts of Heitz, still youthful dark purple color, is this wine really 14 years old? Pretty good value and worth the wait, only wish i had six more....

May 12, 2018 - Opened by a friend over dinner. This is a wine and a vintage with which I'm very familiar and always enjoy. No exception this time. Good dark maroon colour, tending to black. Lovely nose, with earthiness and good red berry fruit, I could happily just inhale for an hour! It's smooth and silky, I think at its peak, so best drink now, but hopefully will maintain this level for a few more years. Very enjoyable.

November 19, 2017 - Not d'Angludet at its best, I'm afraid. Deep plum colour; promising nose of pepper and blackcurrant, no real lift but acceptable; taste however = thin (eloquent would be a euphemism), although not without a centre to hold it all together, although the "all" itself is rather meagre. There is something not quite right with recent vintages from this estate. At one time, they had a reputation for being one of the better non-classed growths. Although 2004 was not a good vintage, I see from Jeff Leve that their 2016 only scores 89 points. Surely things must change.

March 26, 2017 - Deep ruby colour with very slight brick tone on the rim. Firm elegant nose with plenty of power and no signs of age. On the palate this wine is full, well balanced with great fruit, mature (i.e. soft) tannins and good length. This is a classic mature left-bank wine and as good as your are likely to find for the money. I only paid £8 for it in bond, but I see it sells for £35+ now. I was afraid I might have waited too long to drink this, but have decided that I caught it at just the right time. The wine still has a few years good drinking in it though.

October 15, 2016 - Deep, dark colour much more so than expected. A full on fruity nose, red and darker fruits with intensity and complexity. The palette doesn't match. A plush start belies a stripped out mid palette, some minerality, and a bitter finish.

June 8, 2016 - Coravined half a bottle. Youthful appearance - deep ruby core, pale ruby rim. Nose shows attractive dark fruit, cedar, toasty notes, touch of earth - some nice development and quite aromatic. Medium/full bodied, fruit is quite rich and dark, but bright too, red and black berries, a few savoury and earth notes, fresh acidity, good length finish with a few "pinchy" tannins and perhaps a slight herbal note. All in all though very good indeed and whilst certainly drinking well I see no reason to hurry to drink up.

Second half consumed 17/6/2016, no discernible difference.

March 26, 2016 - Drinking well. Dark centre, red rim starting to see brick orange rim. Fruit dominates, grassy and mineral flavours, slightly dry on finish. Vanilla and blackcurrant linger. Drink up.
