February 22, 2013 - Deep gold colour. Noticeable oak notes - predominantly through the oxidative notes rather than woody flavour. This oak influence has mellowed the wine and given it a deeper flavour. Very different to the typical searingly acidic and crisp Assyrtiko, but also very good.

March 6, 2011 - (15%) Dark, straw hued. Slight candied sweetness on an intense, bright nose with mango, peach and floral notes. Full bodied this one starts rich and creamy (the 6 months in oak is immediately evident) on the palate. From there it comes off as oily and minerally with waxed lemon fruit flavors that last on a nice, long, lingering finish. Incredibly balanced, sweet yet dry, and not overpowering even at 15% abv. As a late harvest wine this lacks the acidity and crispness I loved in the Sigalas (my first Assyrtiko) but is interesting in its own rite.

September 24, 2010 - Deep straw yellow colour. Fantastic complex nose and individual aromas in the nose but with great typicity. In the fore there is a kerosene minerality, rubber and limestone. On the background ripe citrus peel, wax and honey. Late harvest character super ripe, in the mouth it is big, has huge structure, almost sweet though it must be completely dry, with notes of almonds, minerality, honey and citrus peel. This is world-class wine. The best Nykteri I've ever had. Superb balance of high alcohol (15%) and ripe flavours with the high acidity, individual aromatic profile yet typical of Santorini and long aftertaste.

July 27, 2010 - Santorini Wine Dinner: moe golden in color than any of the other wines. floral and heady, intense, a bit of something soapy too. oak oak oak. rich, ripe, and to my tastes, a bit overdone - this is 15% alcohol. i prefer the other Hatzidakis wines. but then again, perhaps this needs a lot more time in the bottle.
