July 31, 2022 - At its prime. Classic Margaux. Decanted 3.5hrs. Full bodied, deep color, great complexity.

June 10, 2022 - First bottle at son’s 21st birthday dinner with my parents 60th anniversary

A very special wine on a special evening. Tasted in balance with fruit integrated well with cedar. Blackberry, Boysenberry cedar, a little ash and mushroom. Full bodied, silky. Very long finish.

Drinking well and seems like it hasn’t peaked yet.

Looking forward to the next one!

    May 15, 2022 - From Magnum. 4 hour decant.
Aromas of dried red fruit, tobacco, leather, iron and damp earth.
On the palate this is nicely integrated and perfectly balanced. Tannin is still lightly grippy and the fruit is at the forefront so I’d guess this has many years of life left.
Delicious now, perhaps better in 5 years and will last another 10-20 no problem.

50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 13 + Smaak / Afdronk: 18 + Algemeen / potentieel: 9 = 95/100

Colour: Ruby red with a thin lighter rim. Aroma / bouquet: Seductive, complex and refined bouquet. Pleasantly expressive. Dark fruit, refined wood. Seriously classic. Taste / Aftertaste: A great, almost grand, wine with almost everything right. A fine acidity to start, still tough and powerful but beautifully refined tannins. Also in the mouth this Margaux shows itself tough but at the same time soft and elegant. Nicely grounded. Still fully vital at this stage without a trace of fatigue or tertiary aromas. Long finish. General / potential: Great wine, beautiful classic Margaux, a privilege to drink. And certainly a few more years to go. 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / Bouquet: 13 + Taste / Aftertaste: 18 + General / Potential: 9 = 95/100

December 18, 2021 - A very pure offering for a Bordeaux and coming after some great Burgs it was that wine that would provide seamless toggle between those very different regions. The Margaux was floral, freshly cut flowers, tell tale violets, felt airy and light yet substantial and low alcohol in the mouth and finished with a long peacock tail finish. A very fine wine and better than the 1990 LLC next to it today for its purity.
