August 14, 2021 - Very nice (accidentally) aged Nebbiolo. This was Missing / Presumed Drunk in CT about five years ago and found during a cellar reorg! Given the good but not ideal conditions (dark, seasonal fluctuations from upper-50s - upper-60s F) this was fully mature and went great with a grilled grassfed NY strip. Dark cherry, dried rose or violet petals, dry leather, baked earth, richly spiced plum. Nice finish, no heat, just a touch of bitter. 13% abv. A deal 10 years ago at $18 USD.

August 24, 2013 - Nose of sweet herbs and cranberries with a bit of smoke that becomes more prominent with air. On the palate it shows much of the same, supported by classic alpine nebbiolo acidity and medium weight but lacks refinement and focus. Becomes bitter within the hour and, to me, falls out of balance. Nice effort and I love it's traditional approach, but for the same price I would seek out Vallana Gattinara or Boca instead (although stylistically this is closest to their Cuvée Bernardo bottling).

June 18, 2013 - Bottle was corked. I could almost taste some nice fruit underneath the flaw, but ended up dumping most of the bottle.

May 14, 2012 - Starts out pretty tannic, but with air things smooth out quite a bit. Very nice, floral nose that stayed strong from start to finish. The fruit on the palate built up as the wine openned up in the 1st hour. An excellent wine for the price.

July 18, 2011 - High toned, complex nose that unfolds nicely. Bitter almonds, red cherries, leather, roses, baking spice, very light toast and lots of earthy minerals. Extremely pleasant balance on the palate, with a silky smooth mouthfeel, rich aromatics, fresh acids and slightly drying tannins. Mentholated and sea-salty finish. All in all a decidedly elegant and highly enjoyable nebbiolo, to drink now or store for a few years. Obviously a bargain @ $25 (135 dkk). Will buy more.
