February 23, 2024 - Still drinking well, but not quite in the sweet spot as it was one year ago. This was our last bottle and I would encourage anyone with remaining bottles to drink up this year. Golden color. Still vanilla, honey and minerals in the nose and peaches and apples in the flavor though definitely not as creamy on the palate. Well balanced, medium to full bodied and a long smooth finish. 93-94

January 27, 2023 - Sensational wine: deep golden color, overwhelming, decadent nose immediately after the cork was out! Fat, buttery, creamy and oily texture, which makes the wine filling out every space, every corner of your mouth and palate; you can’t escape. Supercomplex: notes of peach, apricot, pineapple and other exotic fruits. Vanilla and loads of honey. Superconcentrated. Deep. Complex. Medium to long finish. I doubt whether many wine lovers would be able to identify this one against a Montrachet Grand Cru in a blind tasting.
No signs of oxidation. But as I have no experience of old Mount Eden Chardonnays I cannot predict how long this wonderful piece of wine art will persist. Absolutely wonderful now.

January 13, 2023 - This wine was actually in a sweet spot at 15 years old, lush fruit, creamy palate yet nice acidity. Bright gold color. Pears, vanilla and honey in the nose with hints of nuttiness, floral, spice and minerals. Pears, apples and peaches in the flavor. Very well balanced, medium to full bodied and a luscious very smooth and creamy finish. Wow!

June 20, 2020 - I bought a case of this wine many years ago to have a classy chardonnay in the cellar for special occasions. If I remember correctly, it was about $25/bottle, which was a lot for CA chardonnay back then. 11/12 were consumed over the years, with good memories, but one remained hidden away, which I discovered recently. I figured that it was probably over the proverbial hill, but I was not going to dump it, so I cooled it down and opened it tonight.
Wow! Still in great form. Color was medium yellow. Smell had cantelope, limes, mangos, papayas. Taste was rich, tart, and bit sweet, with all of the smells reflected on the palate. No sign of oxidation, or being over the hill! If it were less sweet, I would have given an even higher score. Aside form the sweetness, there was not a flaw in his wine.
This wine proved to me that chardonnay does not necessarily have to be consumed within the first couple years of its life, which is often prognosticated for chardonnays, but on the contrary, one can age gracefully. I am really curious to know what it is about this wine that made it so age worthy. Please pipe in if you know!!! I will be looking to buy a new case of this wine, for special occasions.

January 12, 2019 - From magnum purchased on release. Decanted to get some air then returned to the bottle to be drunk at the Parent’s table for my daughter’s wedding. Excellent texture and richness with lots of minerality, good acidity and layers of flavor like lemon, butter, a little vanilla and some white peach.delicious and so easy to drink.

November 26, 2018 - Golden straw. Orange oil on first open evolves toward lemon curd, wax, and vanilla. Viscous, plushly textured with flavors of blood orange alongside bitter citrus. This should age nicely. (Bottle number 10625)
