March 31, 2024 - Had a small taste immediately after opening, and it felt a bit austere and one dimensional. So grabbed the decanter immediately, decanted and left for the next couple of hours.
Hour later, it had softened up, and started to open up and show earthy characteristics with a big, deep broad palate of red and dark fruits. Every hour that passed the wine gained more and became complex. Hour 3, it started to hit its stride. Really nicely integrated and broad, powerful, but underlying richness of fruit. Touch of spice.
My takeaway, is this would benefit from another 5-10 years of age, whilst still enjoyable now, make sure you open or decant for a good couple hours before diving in.1 person found this helpful Comments (1) -

October 21, 2021 - Darkish red cherries, sweet plum fruit and earth. For a Grivot, it is giving and expressive but lack of excitement and complexity.

October 9, 2018 - Grivot really nailed 2009, and this Suchots was no exception. Depth. I am reaching the conclusion that the emphasis on expression of terroir may be a bit overstated. The expression of the vintage may be just as if not more important, time being more expressive than space in wine.
