December 9, 2022 - With an hour of air, in a great spot. Nose is very expressive and reveals baking spices, leather, blue fruit, earthiness and some funk. Tannins still very much present and finish goes on for days. No rush here drinking great now but could easily sit another 5-10 years.
Easily mistaken for a Napa Bordeaux blend

July 8, 2018 - A pleasurable surprise. Quite a depth to the wine. Still fresh with tannins present. Dark in colour. Black currant fruit, a little tar, star anise.

May 1, 2017 - Coravin glass. Showing very little evolution in the glass with a dark garnet to the rim. C9dP nose. Rich and smooth on the attack with rich dark fruit and plenty of wood spices. Tannins are well integrated at this stage. On the mid-palate a touch of wood is peeking out, and also leather, which in my eyes is the only element that might point a very experienced blind taster somewhere else than to the Southern Rhone. Short to medium finish. No reason to wait here but will easily last 5-10 years.

This is certainly a very well wine made which shows good balanced despite the crazy extraction. Tannins are clearly under control. They managed to get 15.5% in an average vintage like 2001, the alcohol shows a bit on the slightly porty nose but not on the palate. I find this wine very hard to rate, in absolute and "objective" wine quality terms would see this around 92, the quality of the wine making demonstrated is outstanding (they managed to do this "chef d'oeuvre" in 2001 in Bordeaux...), but if you want Bordeaux typicity look elsewhere... April 17, 2016 - Originally, I had a case. After tonight, I'm down to one bottle left. I was nervous looking at the community drinking window coming to a close in 2017, but surprisingly, tonight was as good as this wine has tasted. The nose is still rich and the tannins have mellowed this into a smooth drinker. Really pleased.

September 16, 2015 - 1.5 hour decant. Tastes identical to when I last had it 2.5 years ago. Modern in style but I love it.
