Community Tasting Notes 5

March 8, 2009 - Sunday Night Wines and Pizza (Andy Velebil's Pad): Nose shows some signs of its age with truffley oxidized notes among its cedary goodness. Very nice balance and in a great spot. Not a ton of power or complexity but just a perfect drinking aged Cab. Very nice.

March 19, 2008 - Definitely polished and streamlined by age, but the fruit retains color and vibrancy. Still, there's nothing much here, and it has a rusty flavor that tastes kinda wrong. Just eh.

June 24, 1991 - With MPL, Brett and Diane at London Wine Bar in SF. I had this listed in my handwritten notes as a "Reserve" but CT indicates no KK reserve Cabernets. Anyway, whatever I had, it was very pretty; ruby color. Good legs. Excellent nose. Beautiful red fruits. Juicy. Fine. Sweet, even fat (a bit alcoholic). On the palate, it's fine. Black cherry. A bit hard in the finish. Tannic. Excellent wine. Needs time. 5-11-14-7: 87/100.

August 3, 1990 - With BLR at London Wine Bar in SF. Reminds me of the '84 Ridge Monte Bello. Deep ruby color. Beautifully focused raspberry fruit in the nose. Riveting. One the palate, it has aggressive tannins on the finish, plenty of alcohol and loads of fruit. Nice. Good wine. Ageworthy. 5-11-16-7: 89/100

October 19, 1988 - Client Luncheon Tasting. 8 Cabernet Sauvignons.
    Vegetable nose, bitter aftertaste. #7/7.
