November 19, 2018 - PnP. Fruit is beginning to lean toward raisin-like qualities on the nose and palate. Red berries and bramble till nicely evident. Light acidity and still firmish tannins mixing with heat on the finish.

May 25, 2015 - Decanted 2 hours (benefitted but could have used more). Translucent garnet. Flowery red berries with mineral and some bramble. Bright tense fruit on the palate structured mainly by acidity, but with fairly firm tannins as well. This was another good showing of an Etna red with robiola-finished risotto (this time with morels and fresh herbs). This dish needs the acidity and the bright fresh fruit is a good flavor match. Still young and I would not serve this without food.

April 17, 2014 - Visually very much like Pinot Noir, very clear, very tranparent, hardly any indications of ageing; nose deviates from Pinot Noir, plenty of mild and ripe red fruit, some juniper, a few almonds, traces of oak, tobacco and a lot of drive; taste was totally juvenile, strong and very attractive tannin (in a few years), wild acid, plenty of elegant and profoundly gripping fruits flavours (mostly dark berries in combination with spicy black pepper), besides that aromas of dried meat, tobacco, a bit of liquice and minor traces herbaceous aromas, very substantial pressure on the palate, later (approx. 5 hour in caraf) a bit sweeter and riper, but the tannin did not move an inch. Great wine! Please keep it in the celler for a couple of years!!!

August 8, 2013 - nice balance of fruit, acidity and concentration. not same caliber as Guardarola and PrePhylleroxera

January 13, 2011 - Best Etna red to date. Lovely nose of violets and roses. Great minerality - all rocks. Delicious on it's own but would've been greatly enhanced by food.
