June 11, 2022 - The last bottle of this great auction find. Although the 2004 never quite matched my memories of the 2002, this bottle was a joy to drink and a perfect partner to the côte de boeuf au jus and sautéed mushrooms. This had been stood up about 3 days in advance. Once again, the cork was extremely dry and disintegrated on opening. No ah-so where I was so it ended up having to be filtered after the cork was pushed down in the bottle. Super nose of black, blue and red berries, lead pencil and dusty earth. On the palate, this wine is a warrior. It will never die... fresh, zippy, lively tannins that are finally starting to smooth out and a great core of fruit. This has structure to outlive me. Great mineral drive and finish. I'll have to find some more.

February 5, 2019 - Dark ruby. Rustic, mineral, rather tough. Interesting, but not very friendly. Consistent results over four nights.

On verra...
