August 11, 2021 - Found another bottle stashed in the back row! I opened it to take it to dinner but because the restaurant had a 2 bottle max had to recork it pretty quick. Didn’t get to open again until 2 days later. Drank half. Recorked & left it for 2 more days. Opened it again and actually turned the bottle over spilling a little and agitating the wine. Drank a nice big glass of it and it was smooth & delish. I must be living right! Long live Freemark Abbey!
May 25, 2020 - Last bottle of several. Enjoyed as much or more than all the others. Wine was mature and delicious. Great nose and mouthfeel. Classic Napa Cab. Drink up!
May 9, 2020 - I expected a lot more from a 2007 Napa Cab, even at entry-level pricing. WRKOLBECK note on point. Not much depth or complexity on opening. Improved a bit after 2 hours, but certainly never lived up to the vintage. Low score is about unmet expectations.
January 14, 2020 - Drinking exceptionally well right now. At its peak.
October 27, 2019 - Still very tannic after 12 years. Paired OK with a rib-eye, however. Not a sipper wine. Not top notch. I’ve always had a soft spot for Freemark Abbey because of a few bottles I’ve tasted long ago, I but I am drifting away after this experience. I guess when you depend on others to supply wine for you to blend, it’s a house of cards that will eventually tumble.
March 13, 2019 - Decent everyday cab but past its peak, lacks complexity & structure.
December 24, 2018 - Noticeable diminution since the last bottle but likely due to bottle variation. Clear, medium garnet in color. Lots of overripe plum and raisin on the palate.
November 1, 2018 - This wine was in a perfect place, IMHO. Classic California cab flavors, from an exceptional vintage.
October 24, 2018 - I believe that the “drink before” date is too soon. Had this tonight and the minicus was still clear. Still very tannic even after resting for two hours.
August 4, 2018 - Wonderful for a big production NV Cab. Integrated, ripe berry and cassis in the mouth.
