March 20, 2021 - Moderate bricking, largely resolved American oak. Very plush and silky mouthfeel. Clearly a wine with long barrel age. Drinking very fine now..

December 13, 2020 - Very dark and opaque, with just a tinge of brick. Quite a complex nose. All ripe black fruit at first, giving way to earth and a bit of barnyard, and then later savory, peppery spice. The rather fierce tannins that were very prominent in this wine's youth have melted away. There's still a bit of it going on, but the wine is certainly very approachable, and nothing that a bit of food can't fix. Rich, with a lot of ripe, sweet black fruit. Grilled meat, dried herbs, coffee beans as well. Very nicely put together. The 14% alcohol doesn't show at all. The earthiness is also apparent on the palate. Maybe just approaching peak. Good length. Savory, meaty finish.Excellent.

December 1, 2017 - This is a very well made wine which is certainly in the window, but no rush to finish up. Second half of the bottle drunk a couple of days later was probably better. So smooth, fresh, and a lovely blend of fruit and tertiary characteristics. Long length.
